Why You Need This Guide
You might be thinking that you’re pretty savvy and you don’t need some online guide to help you pick your favorite chair – and you may be right.
But, if you happen to be wrong and you choose the improper piece of furniture, you’ll be regretting it for years to come, and you’ll be out a few hundred dollars.
It’s essential that you understand the differences between the models of chairs and choose the one that is best suited to hold your physical body type.
If you follow this guide, you’ll be more likely to find the perfect chair for yourself. Not only will you be able to game in comfort, but your back and knees will also thank you for years to come.
The most comfortable chairs will promote better posture so that you don’t get that “gamer crook” in your spin when you actually go out into the real world.
You’ll feel a lot better if you choose a chair of the right size than if you just pick one that looks the coolest.
DXRacer brand gaming chairs are made specifically for PC Gamers, so this guide won’t be of much use to console or casual gamers.
Because PC Gamers require a specific type of setup, these chairs are focused on those who will be in front of a battle station type of desk, with multiple monitors and high-tech gear surrounding them on all sides.
However, those with a minimalist setup will also benefit from the use of a DXRacer gaming chair.
Having established that these are for PC gamers, there are several metrics that we will be evaluating to help you choose the right size for your needs.
These include overall height, overall width, seat front width, seat rear width, seat depth, bolster to bolster, floor to the top bucket, backrest height, and backrest wingspan.
You may not understand all those terms, so we are going to define them for you.
Overall Height – this refers to the height, in inches from where the wheels of the chair rest on the ground to the very top of the back of the headrest.
Overall Width – the overall width measures the chair from and to its widest points on both sides.
Seat Front Width – This is the width of the seat at the front end of the chair, facing the gaming station.
Seat Rear Width – This is a measurement of the width of the rear end of the seat, where the seat cushion meets the back of the chair.
Seat Depth – Depth is the measurement from the seat front to the seat rear.
Bolster to Bolster – The bolsters are essentially where the armrests are connected. This is the width between the two bolsters.
Floor to Top Bucket – The measurement from the floor to the top portion of the seat.
Backrest Height – The entire height of only the backrest – from the rear of the seat to the top of the rest.
Backrest wingspan – The measurement of the width of the backrest at its widest point.
All these measurements are important parts of the chair, especially if you are going to be sitting at it for hours at a time.
A person with a wider frame, for example, will need a bigger bolster-to-bolster measurement and larger overall width.
But a person who is skinny might feel as though the chair is too big and that they can’t relax in it, so they should opt for smaller dimensions.
Because people come in all shapes and sizes, DXRacer has made a wide variety of chairs to suit any body type.
Whether you are tall and lanky, short and plump, or somewhere in between, you should be able to find the chair that best suits your frame.
Now, let’s look at all the different series of chairs that DXRacer has to offer so that you can decide which one works best for you.
Sizes of Small DXRacer Gaming Chairs
The Formula is made for the most petite gamers, coming in with a maximum overall height of 50” and only able to hold up to 200 pounds of a gaming professional.
The floor to top bucket comes in between 16 inches and 19.5 inches, so this is definitely not for those internet warriors with long, flowing legs.
The seat’s 14-inch front width and 20-inch rear width mean that you better have a small frame or get on a low-calorie diet before trying to get comfortable in this one.
The bolster to bolster width also caps out at 20 inches, so bulky gamers need not apply.
The Racing series is similar in size to the Formula Series but has a little bit extra height and a tad bit more room in the seat. Still, it is not for large gamers by any means.
This is made for the smallest of gamers, with a maximum seat height of 20 inches and a max armrest height of 29 inches. The seat width is 14.5 inches in front and 20 inches in back, so you better be pretty thin if you want to fit in this comfortably.
Racing PRO Series
The Racing PRO series is a step up from the Racing series in both size and quality.
With a height range from 51 inches to 54.5 inches, this can fit gamers who are up to 6 feet tall, rather than the 5’8” height limit of the standard Racing Series.
It can also hold an additional 50 pounds for up to 250 total pounds, so those gamers who like to eat a lot may consider this a major upgrade.
While the seat width is the same, the overall width reaches 20 inches, and the armrest width is 19 inches, so this is just a bit more comfortable than the smaller Racing series that more puny gamers may opt for.
This one is made for the smaller professionals, however, with a maximum height of 20 inches and a measly weight limit of 200 pounds.
If you are 5 feet 8 inches or shorter, this might be the perfect chair for you, especially if you like to wear business casual attire while you shoot zombies.
With a seat width of 21 inches at its maximum, there is a good amount of space for people who are small but portly.
Drifting PRO Series
Much like the Racing and Racing PRO series, the Drifting PRO series is a bit of an upgrade to the standard Drifting Series. This will accommodate people up to 6 feet tall and can hold a bit more weight, maxing out at 250 pounds.
The seat width, however, maxes out at 21 inches, so this might be better for those who are top-heavier rather than someone who has a lot of weight in the bottom half of their body.
Still, these are a little daintier than the Racing PRO Series, as they can only hold up to 200 pounds of weight.
With a height range of 52 inches to 54.5 inches, this one can also fit gamers up to 6 feet tall, but due to the lower weight limit, this is designed more for scrawny gamers who don’t eat as much or probably don’t work out.
It’s also thinner from armrest to armrest than the other ones, at only 17 inches, so you better not be too wide if you want to sit in this chair.
Sizes of Medium DXRacer Gaming Chairs
This set of chairs is perfect for someone who is perfectly average in height and weight.
You might not be a giant of epic proportions, but you probably also aren’t super tiny. If that describes you, these are the DXRacer chairs that you should be looking at.
With an overall height range of 51 inches to 55 inches, this is perfect for gamers who are up to 6 feet 4 inches tall.
It can also hold up to 275 pounds, so don’t worry about dieting if you want to be comfortable in this one.
The overall width is 27 inches, so even if you’re pretty wide, you should find plenty of space when you start gaming in this chair.
The maximum seat width is 20.5”, so you can’t quite be a gargantuan, but as long as you are in the average range, you should have enough room to game in style and comfort.
This one can fit gamers (and workers) up to 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a maximum height of 53 inches and a seat height of 21 inches.
The width maxes out at 28 inches, making it significantly roomier than the chairs that belong to the small category.
The seat also provides plenty of width with a maximum in the rear of 22”. This is an excellent chair for somebody who isn’t small but isn’t large and who wants to game in exquisite comfort.
With significantly more space than the small chairs but not quite as much as the large ones, this falls right in the middle of the pack.
The overall height ranges from 50 to 53 inches, with a maximum seat height of 21 inches. The width is average as well, with an overall width of 28.5 inches and a maximum seat width of 23 inches.
It is slightly larger than the similar Iron Series, so it will fit those with a few extra pounds, whether it be fat or muscle.
The Sentinel is very similar to the King Series but has a higher overall height range – this one goes from 54 inches to 58.4 inches, so it is ideal for people with long legs whose height reaches up to 6 feet 2 inches tall.
Like the King Series, the Sentinel can hold up to 275 pounds, so even some pretty bulky gamers will be happy with it.
The overall width, however, maxes out at 19.5 inches, which is significantly thinner than the Sentinel, so this may be made more for those who are somewhat lanky and don’t have very large behinds.
Perhaps it is designed for someone with a more athletic build, even if they are still a gamer.
Sizes of Large DXRacer Gaming Chairs
These chairs are made for the beasts of the gaming world: the people who not only strike fear into the opponents online but also carry with them an intimidating physical presence in real life.
Whether you are large by nature, because you eat too much fast food, or because you pump up heavily at the gym in your time away from gaming, these chairs are perfect for the largest gamers in existence.
This is one of DXRacer’s largest overall chairs, with an adjustable overall height of 50.5” – 54.5.” The overall width is 30.5”, tying it with the Tank series for the widest chair, but it boasts a wider seat with 22.5” in front and 20.5” in the rear.
With a high backrest of 35.5” and a wingspan of 25”, this is a chair built for a tall, bulky gamer – in fact, this beast can hold up to 400 lbs.
If you often wish that you could upgrade to first class on a flight due to your sheer physical size, then this is probably the chair for you.
It should provide you with plenty of space to stretch out, lean back, and relax while also remaining functional enough for you to be able to game efficiently.
No matter how large you are, this chair should have no problem keeping you comfortable as you confront the bad guys and take on your friends in your favorite games.
The height range is from 52-56 inches, and the maximum width is a whopping 24 inches, so no matter how much the floor shakes when you walk, you should find plenty of comfort in this beast of a chair.
If you are anywhere below 6 feet tall, you may feel dwarfed by this bad boy, so we wouldn’t even recommend considering it unless you break the 6-foot barrier.
It can comfortably hold people who are well over that height, however.
That should be about everything you need to choose the right DXRacer chair for your size. Whether you are small, medium, or large, the company has a wide variety of offerings to suit your needs.
But remember, you should always test the chair out first to make sure that it lives up to your comfort level because everybody is different. This guide can help steer you in the right direction, though.
